At 7:16 pm, the Port Allegany FD and ambulance were dispatched for an odor investigation in an apartment at 92 North Main Street.

At 6:22 pm, officers were dispatched to a minor MVA in Bradford.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Mechanic Street and West Washington Street.
The caller reported that the accident was minor and that there were no injuries but there would need to be a report made due to damage.

A performance by Dueling Pianos International and a block party will highlight the annual Alumni and Family Weekend on Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. Events are open to the public.
The weekend begins with free “Classes Without Quizzes” offered during the day on Friday, Sept. 30. Dr. Warren Fass, associate professor of psychology, will teach “Human Learning” from 10 to 10:50 a.m. in 161 Swarts Hall. Dr. Helene Lawson, professor of sociology, will teach “Sociology of Gender” from 3 to 3:50 p.m. in 107 Swarts.
At 4:30 p.m. Friday, a career networking reception will take place in the Mukaiyama University Room. Speakers will be Jeanine Vento ’10, agent broker for Patrick A. Reilly Insurance Co.; Dr. Tim O’Brien ’77-’78, ophthalmologist and managing partner for Seneca Eye Surgeons; Rachel Thayer ’10, events coordinator and executive assistant for Serena Group; and Chris Luke ’94, senior vice president and director of marketing for PNC investments.

Town hall meetings planned to collect public and business input on trail system development
The Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau and students from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will be holding a series of town hall meetings to gauge local opinions on developing the area into a “hot spot” for trail activities.
The first meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Room 121 of Blaisdell Hall on Pitt-Bradford campus. All meetings are open to the public.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been for northern McKean County until 8:15 p.m.
The storm, which is traveling east at 40 miles per hour, is capable of creating quarter-sized hail and winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.

At 7:01 p.m., Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department and Bradford City Ambulance were dispatched to the intersection of Route 219 and Route 59 for a motor vehicle accident involving a flatbed tractor trailer and a pickup truck. There was entrapment.
At least two injuries were reported.
Stat Medivac was put on standby.

Eyewitness report from the Editor
The fire that was reported at Players Downtown in Bradford was an arson.
A man (currently known to the police) that was thrown out of Player’s earlier in the night, filled a bottle with an unknown fluid, set it afire using a wick made from a piece of his shirt, and lit the entry way of the bar on fire.

At 11:23 p.m., Bradford City Police were dispatched to Players for a possible fight inside the building. While en route, dispatchers reported additional calls about a fire in the building.
Upon arrival, City Police officers reported smoke showing.
At 11:24 p.m., Bradford City Fire Department was dispatched for a possible structure fire.

At 9:46 pm, a dirt bike accident was reported in Lafayette Township.
The accident was reported to be near route 219, 2 miles north of Tack’s Inn, in the area of Kennedy Springs.
The caller reported that there were possibly two passengers and the riders had possibly been thrown from the dirt bike.
The caller also reported that she had received a phone call from one of the patients, and that their exact location was not known, but the riders could hear route 219, and believed they were in the Kennedy Springs area.

Percy “Papa Joe” Bailey, 78, of 40 W. 5th St., Emporium, died at Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys on Saturday (September 3, 2011) morning. He was born October 12, 1932 in Sinnamahoning a son of the late Bruce and Gladys Summerson Bailey.
Mr. Bailey graduated from Emporium High School and served with the US Army during the Korean War. Joe retired from Keller Oil in St. Marys where he worked for many years and drove many miles during his employment. He later worked for GKN as a night watchmen and a driver. He was a member of the Sinnamahoning and Sterling Run United Methodist Churchs. He enjoyed painting, fishing, the Pittsburgh Steelers, playing softball and sponsoring the “Pappa Joes” Softball team.

At 8:27 p.m., Ludlow Fire Department was dispatched to a fire in Hamilton Township.
The fire was located on Route 321 north of Dunkle’s Corners. The nature of the fire was unknown at time of dispatch.

At 3:54 pm a fire was reported near Bradford.
Rew, Bradford City, Otto Township, Derrick City, and Hilltop FD’s were all dispatched to 232 South Kendall Ave, across the street from the old Kendall Pipe Yard.
The caller reported that a garage at the rear of the structure was fully involved.

At 6:23 pm, a rolled over pickup was reported.
The accident was reported to be about half-way up the hill on Olean Road.
The caller reported that the pickup was on it’s side blocking 1 lane of traffic. No one was near the vehicle at the time of the call.

At 4:57 pm, a vehicle fire was reported in the City of Bradford.
The fire was reported to be at 229 Jackson Ave.
Bradford City Police and the Bradford City Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will host a forum next week on the role of nuclear power in sustainable energy.
“Nuclear Power and Sustainable Energy: Where Do We Go from Here?” will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 19 in 162 Swarts Hall. The forum is presented by the Pitt-Bradford Energy Institute and its Sustainability Committee. Matt Kropf, director of the institute, will moderate.
A nuclear engineer and environmental activist will both be on hand to discuss what role should be played by nuclear power in the search for sustainable alternatives to nuclear fuel.

Emphasizing the dangerous and sometimes deadly consequences of
driving while distracted, PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch, P.E., today urged all motorists to focus only on driving while behind the wheel.
“Any time a driver diverts their attention from the task of driving – even for a second – they put themselves and others at unnecessary risk,” Schoch said, noting that April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. “Driving is a skill that demands 100 percent of your attention, 100 percent of the time.”

At 1:45 pm, a hit and run was reported in the city of Bradford.
A caller at 45 Forman Street reported that the last time she saw her car was around 11 pm last night, and when she went out today, her car was damaged.
Bradford City Police responded to the residence.

At around 1:10 pm, Bradford City Police were dispatched for a break-in attempt.
A long haul trucker on Rockland Ave. reported that the last two times that he had been home that there had been evidence of a break-in attempt.
