South Center Street Fire Ruled Accidental

State Police fire marshal’s have ruled the fire yesterday to be accidental.

The cause of the fire at 11 South Center Street was determined to be a cigarette which was still hot when it was dumped into a plastic trash receptacle.

Gail Button, 43, the resident of the apartment, was not home at the time of the fire.

The fire damaged the living room area, and caused heat and smoke damage to other parts of the apartment.

    this artical is incorrect it was accidental and was not caused by a cigeratte i am gail’s daughter and want this post taking down we lost everything that day and no body even cared my name was still on the lease and i was not able to get my stuff out the stuff that wasnt touched by the fire i had a 1988 teddy bear that my great grandma gave me on the day i was born and they trough it out and it was not damaged and the smell could have been washed and i cerntly did not like the fact that they brought my moms cat that had been in our life for 5 years being brought out dead and showed to my mother

      I am sorry that you lost all of your possessions and the cat and I understand your anger with the situation with the cat. That being said, I’m not taking any posts down. The State Police Fire Marshall ruled that it was accidental, and that the cigarette caused it. He has been doing this sort of thing for years and actually has training in determining the cause of fires that goes far beyond the knowledge of the average citizen.
